As Christians, we are expected to discern right from wrong. Not only to make good choices concerning our own behavior, but also to achieve wise moral judgment - knowing when to grant mercy and when to hold others accountable.
There is a time coming when the people will claim to adhere to Christian doctrine, but in reality, will be pleasing themselves. They will THINK they are following God. The wise will not allow themselves to be corrupted by this condition.
A day is coming, when all those who pursue righteousness will rejoice and celebrate the victory over sin and death. But that same day will evoke a different response for those who used their time for other purposes. For them, this will be a day of accountability.
One of the most significant challenges of modern society is maintaining the balance between our obligation to the community and the pursuit of individual freedom. For the Christian, there is a similar struggle with our own selfish nature conflicting with the calling to serve others.
There are spiritual forces in the world that work tirelessly to deceive and corrupt us. It would be unwise to underestimate their abilities to pull us away from the knowledge of God.
Why doesn’t God show Himself to the world? If He wanted to, He could give us indisputable proof of His existence and end all the debates. What if He has, but man chooses not to see it?
